DR. AUSTIN SHUGART, LPC
Austin is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Georgia Southern University. He went on to complete both his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision from Mercer University. Before joining Thrive Forward Therapy, Austin worked at Ridgeview Institute where he helped individuals and families navigate mental health crises and transition from inpatient to outpatient care. He is also an adjunct professor at Mercer University where he educates future licensed professional counselors.
Austin uses a collaborative client-centered approach for his framework of therapy that focuses on helping guide clients in making the changes they want for a more enriched life.
He uses integrated theoretical approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy to help clients find a renewed sense of self and healing. He works with men, addictions, teens, couples, relationship concerns, depression, anxiety, and life transitions.
Austin lives in the Atlanta area where he enjoys live music, movies, sports, and trying new restaurants. Most of his time is spent having quality time with his family and friends. He is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Licensed Professional Counselors Association for Georgia.
