JENNIFER WILMOTH - FOUNDER
LMFT, AAMFT APPROVED SUPERVISOR
As the Founder of Thrive Forward Therapy, Jennifer developed the practice to offer a welcoming place for people to move forward from difficult circumstances and find new ways to thrive in their life. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over a decade of experience. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina and completed her Masters of Family Therapy degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. She is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Level 1 & 2, and PREPARE-Enrich to help couples and families have great relationships at every stage. She is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor offering supervision to developing and experienced therapists.
As a therapist, director, and clinical supervisor in private practice for many years Jennifer has worked extensively in the areas of relationship conflict, affair recovery, anxiety, depression, family conflict, self-harm, children concerns of angry outburst and acting out, young adult launching, grief, empty nesters, and parent-teen conflict.
Jennifer lives in the Atlanta area with her husband and 2 children. She enjoys traveling with her family, good food, writing, nature, and spending time with friends. She is a Clinical Fellow member of American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
DR. AUSTIN SHUGART, LPC
Austin is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Georgia Southern University. He went on to complete both his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision from Mercer University. Before joining Thrive Forward Therapy, Austin worked at Ridgeview Institute where he helped individuals and families navigate mental health crises and transition from inpatient to outpatient care. He is also an adjunct professor at Mercer University where he educates future licensed professional counselors.
Austin uses a collaborative client-centered approach for his framework of therapy that focuses on helping guide clients in making the changes they want for a more enriched life.
He uses integrated theoretical approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy to help clients find a renewed sense of self and healing. He works with men, addictions, teens, couples, relationship concerns, depression, anxiety, and life transitions.
Austin lives in the Atlanta area where he enjoys live music, movies, sports, and trying new restaurants. Most of his time is spent having quality time with his family and friends. He is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Licensed Professional Counselors Association for Georgia.
KIM SCHMIDT - MASTER IN MARRIAGE & FAMILY THERAPY
Kim received her Bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University in Psychology and her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University.
Kim uses integrated theoretical approaches including; Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative therapy to create a healing environment and help work toward your most desired goals. She currently works with children, couples, teens, divorce, blended families, relationship issues, and life transitions.
Kim lives in the Atlanta area with her husband and miniature schnauzer. She enjoys spending time with
her adult children, traveling with family, long walks, and live music. She is a student member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
Kim is under the supervision of Jennifer Wilmoth, LMFT, AAMFT Approved Supervisor
GLORIA HUANG - INTERN
Gloria is currently working on her Master of Family Therapy at Mercer University School of Medicine. She received her Bachelor of Science in Finance from The University of Maryland, College Park and her Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law.
Gloria uses a collaborative, strength-based approach to therapy that helps clients understand inner processes, build security in vital relationships, and find healing and balance. She is trained in Gottman Level 1 & 2 and PREPARE-Enrich to help people move forward with healthier lives and stronger relationships. Her passions include helping couples, young families, teens and children, and those going through difficult life changes.
Gloria lives in the Atlanta area with her husband and three children. She enjoys family game nights, her Instant Pot, nature walks, and conversations with friends.
Gloria is under the supervision of Jennifer Wilmoth, LMFT, AAMFT Approved Supervisor. She is a student member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
LACADIA JONES - INTERN
Lacadia received her Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Georgia in Psychology and her Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education from Mercer University. She enjoyed teaching elementary school students for many years. Through her experience of teaching was inspired to continue her career in family therapy to be of service to individuals and families in the process of healing and growth.
Lacadia is currently in the process of earning her Master of Family Therapy degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. She uses integrated theoretical approaches including Solution Focused, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Narrative therapy to create a safe space for you to create change and become a preferred version of yourself or family.
She currently works with children, adolescents, couples, families, and life transitions.
Lacadia lives in the Atlanta area with her husband. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, being in nature, and creating art in various forms. While her favorite part of life is new experiences. She is a student member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
